Fundraising time!!!
It is time for M.A.P.I.'s first annual fundraising campaign. Because we are a non-profit group and never charge a fee for our services, we rely soley on the kindness of our readers and clients to help support us by making donations. These donations are used to keep the website going, to purchase batteries, film & development, gas mileage reimbursement, etc. Usually I pay for most of these costs from my own pocket, but now that I find myself without much income coming in, I must rely on others to help keep our website and group afloat.
So it is with much humbleness that I come here to you... please give generously. The future of M.A.P.I. and our ability to serve the community is reaching a critical point.
We have set a goal of $1,000, but our main hope is that we will be able to raise just enough to keep the website going for the remainder of this year (roughly $200.)
If you have found our main website (or organization) helpful, informative, entertaining, or amusing then please consider making a monetary contribution by clicking on the Paypal button. You do not need a Paypal account to make a donation, only a valid credt card. All transactions are done on Paypal's secure site, and we never see your financial information- it is kept private and safe.
Donate as little or as much as you like. If every visitor to our site were to give just a single dollar, I know we would make our goal in just a few short months.
Without your support, we couldn't exist. So please, help us reach our goal by making a donation today.
Thank you, from all of Milwaukee Area Paranormal Investigations.

Mysterious Phoenix Lights a UFO Hoax
To read the full, original article, go to http://www.livescience.com/strangenews/080423-bad-phoenix-lights.html
On Monday evening, April 21, mysterious lights were seen over Phoenix, Arizona. At just after eight, hundreds of residents called police and local news media to report four bright red lights hovering silently over the city. They changed shape after a while, moving from a triangular to rectangular configuration, then disappeared one by one.
The Air Force had no explanation for the lights, and air traffic controllers said that whatever was causing the lights didn't show up on radar. Theories abounded, with UFOs and aliens of course being very popular. One UFO enthusiast named Jeff Woolwine said that he is certain that the lights are from alien spaceships.
The lights remained a mystery and became a national media story.
The case took a twist two days later when a local television station aired a startling confession by an anonymous hoaxer: He had created the UFO lights using road flares tied to helium balloons, launching them in one-minute increments. Some people were amused by the hoax, others were angered, and many conspiracy-minded UFO buffs were skeptical of such a mundane explanation.
This is not the first time that strange lights have appeared in the dark skies over Phoenix. In 1997, similar lights were reported by hundreds; the military had been dropping flares over a nearby testing range, though many UFO believers rejected that explanation as part of a military cover-up.
The Phoenix Lights of 2008 shows just how easy it is to fool the public and create a media stir. All it takes is a few balloons and flares, some spare time, and a mischievous streak.
On a personal note...
Gee... makes me wish I had some helium balloons and a couple of flares. It'd be kinda fun to replicate this stunt to see just what sort of reaction it stirs up in different areas. Don't try this at home though... I imagine the local authorities wouldn't take kindly to another UFO hoax.

An introduction to Milwaukee Area Paranormal Investigations (M.A.P.I.)
Welcome to the Milwaukee Area Paranormal Investigations blog. We will use this space to supplement our news & updates page from our website.
For those who are not familiar with who we are and what we do, let me take tis time to summarize our group. M.A.P.I. is a small team of paranormal investigators located in S.E. Wisconsinwhose primary focus is to seek out and investigate ANY unexplained phenomena. We are determined to prove the existence of such instances through use of scientific equipment and research. We know that the paranormal is real. The members of this group have each personally experienced different aspects ranging from traditionally thought of hauntings, to witnessing cryptozoology in action. At the same time, we keep an openly skeptical mind. Sometimes there are natural causes creating the illusion of paranormal activity. Sometimes no rational explanation can be found.
We take a decidedly different approach concerning the nature and origins of the paranormal. The founders of this organization quite frankly do not believe in "ghosts" as you may view the term. Our beliefs are stemmed from the many worlds theory, (or MWI) which was initially formulated by Hugh Everett, an American physicist. This theory is an interpretation of quantum mechanics that proposes the existence of multiple "parallel universes," all of which have the same physical laws and constants, but occupy different states. That, coupled with other scientifically proven theories, like the existence of quantum entanglement, implies that there may be infinite copies of ourselves in parallel dimensions that, in certain special conditions, can see and interact with each other. When these parallels overlap, each one is only partially in the other, hence the object or person would seem noncorporial, or what many would view as a "ghost." This theory also helps to explain the experiences of deja vu, evps, and other commonly called paranormal occurrences. Not to say that this lessons one's experiences, but these theories merely give us a different vantage point from which to investigate and explore, that others may overlook.
As always, you can access our website through the link on the lefthand side of the page.
